Legal Spanish Program Expands Offerings through Online Education

Only Online Legal Spanish Program in the U.S. Available to Lawyers and Law Students Nationwide

IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C., October 30, 2014 – American University Washington College of Law has expanded its online course offerings to include an online Legal Spanish Program —the only online legal Spanish program in the United States.

Through state-of-the-art technology, the online Legal Spanish Program is delivered using a next generation online learning platform that engages and inspires learners. Participants have the flexibility to work on their own schedules and even meet with classmates and professors at designated times in a virtual session for live coursework discussions. Students also have access to professors with online office hours.

The law school's online Legal Spanish Program presents Spanish terminology in context. It focuses on U.S. Criminal Law, U.S. Immigration Law, and cross-cultural communication and it is taught by specialists in each field. Participants interact with professionals online and broaden their knowledge of legal terminology and concepts in Spanish.

“The online chat is an important component of the program because it creates a community within the online learning platform to help participants interact and exchange ideas,” said Susana Medina-Day, coordinator of the Legal Spanish Program at American University Washington College of Law.

With the course to begin this spring, attorneys and law students enrolled in the online legal Spanish course will have the flexibility of studying legal Spanish while maintaining their day-to-day responsibilities.
