3. Dean Grossman Opens the United Nations Annual Meeting of Chairpersons of the Human Rights Treaty Bodies
Dean Claudio Grossman, in his capacity as president of the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights and the chairperson of the Committee against Torture, opened the 27th Meeting of Chairpersons of Human Rights Treaty Bodies of the United Nations (UN). Taking place in San Jose, Costa Rica, June 22-26, this is the first official meeting that the heads of human rights committees, also known as treaty bodies, hold in the Western Hemisphere.

7. AUWCL Sponsors 17th Annual Grotius Lecture to Open 109th ASIL Annual Meeting
On April 8, AUWCL and the American Society of International Law (ASIL) presented the 17th Annual Grotius Lecture to a crowd of more than 600 to open the 109th ASIL Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. This year's distinguished lecturer was Sir Kenneth Keith, former judge of the International Court of Justice. H.E. Dame Rosalyn Higgins, past president of the International Court of Justice, served as the distinguished discussant, and Dean Claudio Grossman moderated the panel.

10. Dean Presides Over 53rd Session of the UN Committee against Torture
Dean Claudio Grossman, chair of the UN Committee against Torture (UN CAT), is presiding over the Committee's 53rd session in Geneva and serving as country rapporteur for Ukraine and Australia. With the generous support of the Kovler Foundation, ten students in the law school's UN CAT Project joined him in Geneva.
