along with its Spanish counterpart, LL.M. en Derechos Humanos y Derecho Humanitario has opened doors to tremendous academic opportunities for practitioners, human rights activists, and legal professionals seeking to receive formal training without stepping down from their current professions.

This most recent partnership between AUWCL and ITAM seeks to establish a relationship that will benefit both institutions, through the development of this dual degree. Students enrolled at ITAM in the Maestria en Derechos Humanos y Garantías and AUWCL students enrolled in the LL.M. in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and the LL.M. en Derechos Humanos y Derecho Humanitario have the advantage of studying abroad by enrolling in this dual LL.M. Students will benefit from both programs’ curriculums and when completed will receive a dual LL.M. degree from both institutions.

“This dual degree aims to recognize the nature of international human rights law, a field where multicultural and multilingual advocates, lawyers, and government representatives debate and shape the new standards of dignity expected from every state in the international community,” said Diego Rodriguez-Pinzon and Claudia Martin, co-directors of the Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law.

“It is a great opportunity for the students at ITAM and AUWCL. It is proof of the relationship of cooperation that has been created between ITAM and AUWCL, and it will certainly give an international perspective to all participants,” said Gabriela Rodríguez, Director of the Human Rights Master of Law at ITAM.

The HRHL LL.M. is designed and coordinated by Professors Claudia Martin and Diego Rodríguez-Pinzón, co-directors of the Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and professorial lecturers-in-residence, and implemented under the academic direction of Robert K. Goldman, Louis C. James Scholar and professor of law.
