American University Washington College of Law’s Founders’ Celebration 2013 Kicks off Jan. 16

Series of Programs—Including CLE Opportunities—Cover Diverse Range of Cutting-Edge Topics

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 7, 2013 - The Founders’ Celebration, a series of events covering diverse topics to honor the vision and principles of American University Washington College of Law’s founding mothers, kicks off its 2013 season on Jan. 16.

Founders’ Celebration 2013 will feature events, seminars, panel discussions, and experts covering a wide range of topics including government transparency, juvenile justice, immigration reform, copyright and trademark, issues in the law of armed conflict, working in the legal profession, and more.

The 2012 celebration welcomed more than 768 distinguished speakers to the law school, with nearly 900 organizations represented, including governmental departments, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, U.S. and foreign law schools, law firms, and embassies. Many Founders’ Celebration events are co-sponsored by distinguished organizations such as The Hispanic National Bar Association, World Organisation Against Torture, and BakerHostetler, among others.

Many Founders’ Celebration events also offer Continuing Legal Education (CLE) accreditation for legal professionals.

The 2013 series of programs will offer CLE accreditation in the following topic areas:
