Tenley Campus Conference Center to be Named Claudio Grossman Hall

On Friday, Sept. 25, American University Washington College of Law celebrated the 31st  Anniversary of the John Sherman Myers Society with a dinner for more than 200 guests at the Great Hall of the Library of Congress.

The Myers Society, chaired by Tom Morante ’77, is a group of committed alumni, faculty, and friends of who annually contribute $1,500 or more to Washington College of Law. As part of the evening the Society honored Dean Claudio Grossman with the Founders Award.

In giving Dean Grossman the Founders Award, American University President Neil Kerwin announced that what has up until now been called Founders’ Hall at the law school’s new Tenley Campus – the 500 seat capacity conference center – will now be named Claudio Grossman Hall in honor of Dean Grossman and his creativity, innovation, and more than 20 years of service as dean and dedication to Washington College of Law.

“We choose this space because it is designed to be a place where students and practitioners of the law gather to advance professional knowledge, share their experiences, and work together to advance mutual understanding and dedication to the rule of law,” Kerwin told the guests at the dinner.

Professors Angela Davis, Robert Dinerstein, and David Hunter, as well as Chair of the AUWCL Dean’s Advisory Council Ken Lore also addressed the crowd, thanking Dean Grossman for his tremendous commitment to the law school since becoming dean in 1995.

American University Washington College of Law’s new Tenley Campus is a unique 8 ½-acre space one block from the AU-Tenleytown Metro station and a few stops from downtown Washington, D.C. The ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the new campus will take place Feb.  12, 2016 and classes will begin at Tenley on Jan. 11, 2016.
