AUWCL students, faculty, and alumni gathered downtown at the Microsoft Innovation and Policy Center on Wednesday, Sept. 21, for an evening networking reception sponsored by the Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property, Intellectual Property Law Society, Office of Career and Professional Development, and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

The event provided AUWCL students interested in IP law with an opportunity to meet and build relationships with alumni working in the field.

Susan Mann ’86, event host and senior director of intellectual property policy at Microsoft, kicked off the event’s program by welcoming attendees. Before introducing Dean Camille Nelson, Mann spoke about why it is important for alumni to stay involved with the law school community. She explained that events like this give her the opportunity to give back to a school that means so much to her, both as an alumna and the mother of a 2016 graduate.

Dean Nelson and Michael Carroll, director of the Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property, both gave remarks during the event. They lauded faculty and alumni working in the field of intellectual property law and acknowledged the myriad ways in which lawyers bring crucial skills to this ever-changing field.

“What a great example of generosity and engagement,” Dean Nelson said as she thanked all of the faculty and alumni involved in making the reception a great success.
