AUWCL Holds Annual Supreme Court Preview, Sponsors ABA Supreme Court Event

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 19, 2016 – The American University Washington College of Law Program on Law and Government will host the 18th annual “Looking Ahead at the New Supreme Court Term” on Thursday, September 29.

The event will give attendees the opportunity to listen to previews of some of the important cases from the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court Term from experts on constitutional and criminal law issues. It will also provide an important look at the potential future scenarios regarding the vacant seat left by Justice Scalia.

Steve Wermiel, Professor, AUWCL

Bill Yeomans, Professor, AUWCL

“These programs offer two opportunities to understand the most important cases facing the Supreme Court and the high stakes in the fight over the seat that has been vacant for more than seven months since the death of Justice Scalia,” said Professor Steve Wermiel, organizer of the WCL “Looking Ahead” panel and panelist in the ABA session.

The event will be held from 12 to 1:30 p.m. on the WCL Campus at 4300 Nebraska Ave NW, in Claudio Grossman Hall. This event is open to AUWCL alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the general public.

AUWCL will also co-host the American Bar Association’s “On the Docket: A Look at the 2016-2017 Supreme Court Term” on Wednesday, September 28.

The program will be moderated by John Milewski, Executive Producer, Managing Editor and Host of Wilson Center NOW at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

This event will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in the Flom Auditorium of the Ronald Reagan Building at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.  This event is free and open to the public.
