Faculty and Staff Send Open Letter to Students Concerning Killing of Michael Brown and Eric Garner

On Nov. 25, a "Ferguson Open Forum" was held at American University Washington College of Law. Students, faculty, and staff participated in this discussion of the grand jury decision in the Michael Brown case. Faculty speakers included Professors Angela Davis, Jenny Roberts and Sunita Patel, and Howard University Professor Lenese Herbert. The discussion was hosted by several programs and offices including the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, the Criminal Justice Practice and Policy Institute, the Program on Law and Government, the Office of Diversity Services, the Office of Student Affairs, and more. On Dec. 18, over 75 members of the AUWCL faculty and staff sent a letter to students concerning the killings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. The statement reflects the views of the individual signatories; it is not an official statement of American University Washington College of Law or American University. Read the statement.
