Annual PASOS Celebration Takes Place at Washington College of Law

HBA-DC Foundation Announces Creation of Claudio Grossman Public Interest Fellowship

 

 

On Friday, May 20, 2016, the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia Foundation (HBA-DC Foundation) presented the annual PASOS event celebrating the achievements of Latino/a law school graduates in the Greater Washington, D.C. area.

PASOS traditionally takes place at the school with the most Latino/a graduates and has been held at Washington College of Law for the last several years. There were graduates from the law schools of The George Washington University, University of Baltimore, Catholic University, Georgetown University, University of the District of Columbia, and the largest group from American University Washington College of Law.

Felicia Escobar, special assistant to the president for immigration policy, gave a keynote address before the graduates and their families and friends in Grossman Hall. Edgar Class, president of the HBA-DC, Linda Estrada, vice president of the HBA-DC Foundation, and AUWCL Dean Claudio Grossman all gave remarks.

During the celebration, the HBA-DC announced the establishment of the Claudio Grossman Public Interest Fellowship in recognition of Dean Grossman’s many contributions to the HBA-DC Foundation and HBA-DC. The first recipient of the Claudio Grossman fellowship is AUWCL rising 3L Nicole Martinez. Nicole will serve Latino/a children through the medical-legal partnership at the Children’s Law Center in Washington, D.C.
