Students pose with cupStudents Win 2015 D.C. Cup Moot Court Competition

Students Ronny Valdes '15 and Luke Karamyalil '15 were named winners of the 2015 D.C. Cup Moot Court Competition, held by the District of Columbia Bar. The team also won "Best Brief."

The team was coached by alumnus Jonathan Stroud '13.

“It was a great honor to represent AUWCL by participating in and winning a great competition like the D.C. Cup," said Valdes. "We felt confident throughout that we could win and it was a wonderful experience arguing before two Judges from the D.C. Court of Appeals and the D.C. Bar President. We could not have done it without the support from our coach Jonathan Stroud, our Moot Court Honor Society teammates, and our Moot Court faculty advisors.”

"We couldn't have done it without our coach and Moot Court Honor Society alum, Jonathan Stroud, not to mention all our teammates who sacrificed their time to moot us," said Karamyalil. "This award belongs to the team just as much as it belongs to us."
