AUWCL Hosts 19th Meeting of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization Advisory Committee

In the context of the partnership between AUWCL and the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO), the law school hosted the 19th meeting of the ITSO’s Advisory Committee on Feb. 12.

The Advisory Committee is comprised of 23 of the 149 Parties to the ITSO agreement. The Advisory Committee convenes between ITSO’s Assembly of Parties and gives advice and feedback to the Director General of ITSO between Assembly of Parties. Many Ministers, Ambassadors, and government representatives attended.

ITSO’s executive organ is comprised of the Director General, Jose Toscano, the Director of Technical Affairs, Patrick Masambu, and the Director of Legal Affairs, Renata Brazil David. The partnership between AUWCL and ITSO has led to the creation of the Program on International Communications Regulation and Policy, which is headed by AUWCL alumna Renata Brazil David. The Program is comprised of an online course, titled Basic Principles of International Communications Regulation and Policy, which is currently open for registration. Other forthcoming courses in the program include International Communications Law: A Comparative Perspective (Summer 2015), and International Communications Regulation and Policy (Fall 2015). This spring, American University Washington College of Law and ITSO are offering an Online Certificate in Basic Principles of International Communication Regulation and Policy as part of the Program on International Communication Regulation and Policy.
